Writing Your Own Wedding Vows
The wedding vows are perhaps the most important part of the wedding. This is where the bride and the groom really commit to one another, and this is when most of the people in the gathering really come to terms with the amount that the couple really loves each other.
The traditional vows are less common today with most couples preferring to write their own vows. This can cause a lot of excitement for the couple, but can also give them a great deal of anxiety. After all, they have only one chance at it, and they must get it right.
Writing your own vows can be easy. Here are some handy pointers.
Keep it simple. It is better to say what you have to simply, and straight from the heart. It is better this way than to say things in a very grand fashion, but make it seem made up and pretentious. Imagine coming across as fake on your wedding, and in front of all these people. Say it simply, and say it sincerely.
You can try and get a small verse from a favourite poem, text or even from the Bible. This will help set the tone, and also help you improvise on it. It is good for people who need something to help them get some inspiration to start.
Think about the time you have spent with your spouse. There must be some incident or something that stands out as being really significant. Draw on this to help tell your spouse how much that has made an impact inyour life, and how it can never be the same without them.
Think about the things that your spouse has helped doing in making you a better person. This, and the things that you have to give is what will make you both a better person together.
The vows are not really the time to get very funny, or be cocky. The vows are a very serious part of the ceremony. You are committing to one another and pledging love, companionship and fidelity for the rest of your life. Take the vows seriously, and you will do a good job writing them.
