Weight Loss During Pregnancy
Pregnancy is the happiest moment of a women’s life. Pregnancy is a state in which a woman carries another life, in her womb. Pregnancy is a condition without which a woman’s life is incomplete. Up till nine months, a mother bears her child in her womb. She takes all the cares required for the healthy growth of her child. It is not an easy task of giving birth to a baby.
Since the period of conceiving till the birth of the baby, mother has to suffer a lot for her baby. She does all the anti- natal checkups. The mother and her doctor both are concerned with the weight of the fetus. Normally a baby must be born with the weight of three to three and half kilograms. For this the mother’s weight must be increased by ten kilograms during pregnancy.
Pregnant Woman and Weight Gain
Normally a pregnant woman must gain weight step by step, so that she may attain the target of ten kilograms at the end of the pregnancy. Her weight gain indicates that her fetus is growing well with proper weight, inside the uterus. These ten kilograms of extra weight gain is formed by various factors. These factors include, weight of the fetus, weight of the placenta, weight of the amniotic fluid, increase in weight of the breasts, uterus, amniotic fluid. During pregnancy there is accumulation of the fats and proteins too. Blood supply increases which also contribute to weight gain.
Reasons of Weight Loss during Pregnancy
If a pregnant woman loses weight instead of gaining it, then it is considered as a serious problem. Losing weight during pregnancy is dangerous for the fetus to survive. If the pregnant woman is obese and is also suffering from diabetes mellitus, then in her case, it is good for her to lose weight during pregnancy. But in other cases the pregnant woman has to gain weight anyhow.
Why the pregnant woman loses weight instead of gaining weight indicates that there must be something wrong with her. Her hormones might have been disturbed because of pregnancy, which causes weight loss. Morning sickness is the feeling of nausea and sometimes vomiting too specially in morning thus known as morning sickness. This morning sickness occurs in first three months of pregnancy. This is also one of the reasons for weight loss during pregnancy.
