Unconditional Love
Human beings are obsessed with unconditional love. We go to any lengths to find unconditional or true, real love.
Unconditional love is that love, which is given without any expectations or motives, when someone loves another person without any judgment, irrespective of what the person is and what he or she does.
We are basically narcissistic in nature which means ‘self love’ or we actually love ourselves the most than anybody or anything else. Whatever or whoever we love or care for is actually because we get some sort of pleasure by loving that person thereby satisfying ourselves more than anybody else.
It is believed man is basically like any other animal which tries to fulfill certain needs which begin with primary needs like biological needs which include hunger, shelter, security and sexual gratification. After that comes the need to feel affiliation and love. Love therefore is a need rather than an unconditional giving. Yet most of us look for unconditional love; someone who will love us without any conditions or motives in spite of whatever we do or whoever we are.
The most applicable form of such unconditional love may be only possible in the form of a mother’s love for her new born baby. Yet the mother gets pleasure in motherhood and as the baby grows expectations and desires connected with the baby grows. Therefore it’s very hard to determine if at all unconditional love can exist.
The need for unconditional love arises when an individual is seeking a life partner. But the individual himself may be selecting the partner according to a criterion. So the parameter of unconditional love ends here with the individual’s demands while trying to look for unconditional love. To find unconditional love one must first learn to give unconditional love which comes with the level of maturity; to be able to love unconditionally makes one strong and have peace at heart.
Unconditional love may be more possible theoretically than practically yet there are instances when we love our loved ones unconditionally. This means may be we are not able to give or receive cent percent unconditional love yet the intensity and strength of our love for somebody may let us give unconditional love at various situations. A lover is forgiven even after he has betrayed or a kid is spared even when he has done a grave mistake.
