Tiredness Can Effect Driving
Tiredness of the driver is one of main causes of road accidents. Motorists falling asleep at the wheels is the cause of most accidents. Sleep is an essential function to have a healthy mind and body. You could be at risk, if you are driving a car and not getting enough sleep. It has been observed that tired drivers often feel sleepy and start running the car off the road or smash back on another vehicle. Sometimes collision occurs due to high speed and carelessness of the driver who due to lack of alertness fail to use the brake before the crash occurs.
It is important to know how to overcome driver fatigue, if you are experiencing it. You are more vulnerable to accidents when you are driving after a poor night sleep, driving after eating a heavy meal or after a long stressful day at work. So before driving make sure that you have taken enough rest and are not feeling tired at all. Eat light snacks before setting off. If you are driving a long way, take 15 minutes rest after driving continuously for two hours. Get out of your car and stretch yourself well to wake yourself up completely before driving again. To guard yourself against fatigue, it is better to avoid driving at night.
If in any case, you feel tired and uncomfortable while driving, open the window and allow fresh air to enter or turn on the air conditioner to cool you and also turn the radio on loudly to alert yourself. It is even better to stop the car in a safe place and rest for a while. If you are not a lone driver then start conversing with the other person. If possible take a 15 minutes nap and refresh yourself. Another way of refreshing yourself is to drink a cup of coffee or any energy drink. Your tiredness will vanish and you will be ready to drive again.
Tiredness can effect the driving of any driver any time, either day or night. So they must be on guard while driving a long way. They must be aware of the warning signs.
