The Problem of Hair Lice
When we think of hair we only think of it as being oily or dry. And other problems like getting dandruff and how to sure it. But there is yet another problem that is hair related. That is the problem of head lice. This problem is more common in school going children and it may not have much to do with keeping the hair clean.
If someone has lice it multiplies very quickly. Lice is a small, very tiny crawling type of insect that when gets into your hair walks around the scalp and causes a lot of itching. It lays eggs in the hair which are called nits. These stick to the strands of hair and can multiply very quickly.
This needs to be removed. If you are experiencing lots of itching in the scalp you need to ask someone to physically check your hair. It needs to be checked in the sunlight. You will be able to see small white particles that are stuck on the hair strands. These have to be pulled out. They are stuck so you will have to tug at it. This is the egg or nit that has been laid . it needs to be killed by pressing it with your nail. You will hear a sound when you press it.
If your hair does have a lot of these nits you need to find and remove the main lice. There may be much more than one and do it quickly as they can multiply very fast. For easy removal apply oil in your hair and with a very fine toothed comb; comb the hair from the roots applying some amount of pressure and go through the entire length of the hair. The lice can get caught in the comb.
Do this as often as you can. Wash the hair with an anti lice shampoo for a few days. If you know anyone having lice then stay clear of them as it will easily pass on to you and also avoid using hair brushes and combs that belong to someone else. If you have children check the hair regularly for lice and use a medicated shampoo once in six months.
