Tasty Prawn Curry
Prawn is a tasty dish. There is perhaps no one who is allergic to prawn, or who does not like prawn. Here is a very simple and quick recipe of prawn.
Ingredients:
• 1 kg giant sized prawn
• 2 onions
• 1 inch ginger
• Turmeric
• Red chili powder
• 250 grams fresh cream
• 2 Cardamom
• ½ inch cinnamon
• 2 cloves
• Cooking oil
• Salt
• Sugar
Preparation:
Shell and de-poison the prawn and wash it properly. Keep them on a strainer to strain the water. After that rub salt and turmeric on the prawn and keep them aside. Grind onion and ginger into fine paste and keep them separately. Grind cardamom, cinnamon and cloves into fine powder. Whip the cream properly.
Process:
Heat oil in a frying fan. Fry the prawns till they turn red. Remove prawn from the oil and then in the remaining oil add the onion paste. Stir continuously. When it is fried well add ginger paste, pinch of turmeric, red chili powder, salt and sugar to taste. Again cook them well.
Add prawns and stir. Next add water and keep the lid on to make the prawn tender. After 10 minutes remove the lid and keep the preparation upon the oven until the gravy thickens and the prawns get tender. Add the powdered spices and cream. Mix properly and remove it from heat. Serve hot with plain steamed rice.
In this preparation you also can use coconut milk in place of cream. To make it you have to grate one coconut first. Then grind the grated coconut in a grinder. With cheesecloth, strain the coconut milk. You will get a very thick, creamy coconut milk which you may call coconut cream.
After that add warm water and mix it with the pulp that remains. Keep it for some moment and again strain the milk. In the second round the milk you will get is comparatively light.
When you want to cook this preparation in coconut milk instead of fresh cream, use the second extract of comparatively light coconut milk instead of water to cook and to make the prawn tender. After completing everything, at the time of serving add the thick coconut cream and serve.
