We can save money by making some small efforts but very few people know that we can even save money by perfect food choice. Sweet and Sour Cabbage with King of Fruits “Apple”
Preparation Time – About 1 Hour
Level- Easy
Ingredients- Take 2 chopped tart cooking apples, a quarter cup of brown sugar, 6 cup shredded red cabbage, Salt (according to taste but 1 tablespoon will be sufficient), half teaspoon of caraway seeds, dash white pepper, quarter cup of either of apple cider vinegar or red wine.
How to Prepare- To prepare the dish, take a medium sized saucepan. In the pan mix all the ingredients. Cover with a lid and leave on a simmer flame for an hour. You should stir occasionally. After an hour remove from flame and serve in a desirable manner. You can also serve the dish with roasted chicken or with turkey. Pork dish and favorite beef is another option too. It is a simple recipe which is favorite from the past as it is best option during fall.
Pot Roast Red wine with Honey and Thyme
Preparation Time – About 3 hours
Level -Easy
Ingredients- 3 medium sized small onions (diced), a bottom round roast (about 4 pounds), Salt (as per your taste), black pepper (freshly grounded), vegetable oil (5 tablespoon), A head garlic (10-12 cloves are sufficient which are slightly smashed), 1 pound carrots (cut in 1 ½ inch pieces), 2 cups low sodium chicken, vegetable broth or beef, honey (2 ½ tablespoon), medium bodied red wine ( 2 cups), 5-6 springs fresh thymes and 2 pounds russet potatoes (peeled and cut in cubes of 1 ½ inches).
How to Prepare- First thing which you have to do is preheat the oven for 350 degree Fahrenheit. Season the roast with salt and pepper. Take a large pot which is oven proof and heat oil in it for couple of minutes. Now, you can add meat and brown well on all the sides and leave in oven for 10 minutes. After that time remove them from oven and separate them in a plate. Take another pan and heat onions, garlic and carrots in it for 5 minutes. Now you can add broth and thyme in it. Stir it to mix well. Roast the all well.
Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to oven. Bake for next 2 hours. In between you can turn the meat two times. Now, add potatoes to the pot and bake for 45 minutes without covering the pot. Your easy and delicious recipe is ready to serve.
