Toning is essential for both men and women as it protects the skin after thorough cleansing or any other treatment over the skin. It keeps the pores clean and helps them to breathe and thus more receptive for nourishing care along with moisturizing. The need for toning is much more for men because women still have about 10- 15 percent oilier skin then men and men have considerably large pores than women. Therefore their skin gets dirtier frequently and they require getting deep cleansing and time to time toning done to their skin to look fresh.

Toning is used to clean as well as remove excess oil from the skin. It is also used to remove any residual greasiness left on the skin after your make up and cleansing products. It also makes skin feel tight and helps to increase blood circulation in the skin. Toners play the role of skin cleansers which acts as best a skin helpmate that cleans the skin without damaging the ph level and revitalize the skin to give a glowing effect.

Use wool made with cotton or simply a cotton ball for best application of the toner. Apply gently on your cheek and neck area. You can even use it on the forehead, nose and chin (do not apply near the eyes). And most importantly you need to choose the toner with along with essential elements which are required depending upon your skin type.

There are some home remedies for toning the skin like you can take a piece of potato and rub it all over your face and neck and wash it off after 15-20 minutes. This method can be used only by people having oily skin; people having dry skin can add moisturizer. With the help of cotton pads apply rose water diluted with mineral water all over the face avoiding eye area. This can be done in case of dry skin and in the case of oily skin you can use astringent lotion. Some more home made remedies that will help you in toning your skin are mixture of 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of glycerin and 3 tablespoons of rose water.

That is to be applied by dry skin people. People having sensitive skin can mash some strawberries and apply it allover your face and wash it off after 5 minutes which will also work as a skin toner. Common household ingredients can be used as a skin toner, what you have to do is ingredients like honey along with tomato juice. Mix well till it gets thicker and sticky as well. With the help of fingertips use it all over the face including neck. Wait for 15 minutes and wash it off with Luke warm water.

Different toners are available for different types of skin. For normal skin type rose water toner and cucumber toners should be applied whereas for dry skin type mint toner should be applied, you have to boil 2 handfuls of mint leaves in 100 grams of water which can be used as anti perspiring. Secondly you can add alum also which is very refreshing for the skin can also be used as a toner applied to the face. Alcohol and alum skin toner can be used for oily skin type.
