dry-skin-and-wrinklesSkin reflects the state of our inner health; clear, healthy, glowing skin indicates the sign of good health whereas pale, dry and dull skin tells about unhealthy and poor diet. Eating habits matter a lot for staying healthy and also for the youthful and healthy, glowing skin.

Skin Nourishing means feeding the skin with essential nutrients and getting proper supply of emollients. It helps in retaining moisture of skin and thus nourishing should be a part of daily skin care routine to save your skin from getting old prematurely.

Nourishing creams can be applied at night before going to bed because at night nourishing creams get absorbed better when you are in resting phase and skin works to rejuvenate. Nourishing is important to replenish the skin after it has assaults by sun exposure, chemical air pollutants, and changes in weather, humidity and excess make-up. The process of renewal and repair can be carried on effectively and efficiently at night while you are asleep.

An Ample amount of many nutrients are needed to build and maintain healthy red blood cells and other blood factors. These nutrients include protein, iron, copper, and all the vitamins. Deficiency of these nutrients can cause pale and dull skin. Vitamin A helps in maintaining epithelial tissues, prevents premature wrinkling, sandpaper like skin. And also helps to reduce extra production of sebum. Vitamin A is present in green vegetables, fruits, almonds and egg yokes. Vitamin B is necessary for speedy healing of cuts and scraps which prevents from dry and flaky skin. Vitamin B is found mainly in whole grains, milk and wheat germ.

Vitamin C is necessary to build collagen (the scaffolding between the tissues of our body) and lack of collagen can cause bruising, sagging, loss of skin strength and elasticity. It can be cured by just 1 glass of orange juice daily or a bowl of strawberries, Fresh broccoli, grapefruit, red pepper, mangoes, and cauliflower. Vitamin D helps to curb the symptoms of psoriasis. Vitamin E is a strong anti- oxidant which helps in repairing of skin, present in nuts, seeds and spinach.

Zinc is another essential skin nutrient which helps in tissue building and its deficiency can cause dermatitis. And water helps to keep the skin moist and to regulate the normal functioning of oil glands. Daily routine of exercising helps in increasing the oxygen level in the body resulting in supply of healthy blood which helps the skin to stay firm. Regular oxygen and water supply is needed for your skin but that doesn’t mean that you stand in the air and taking the shower. These nutrients need to be supplied through blood.

Skin nourishing creams with anti- oxidants helps in reducing cross linking damage (which is an oxidation process that causes degeneration to supportive tissues and thus causes premature ageing of skin) and the creams containing vitamin A helps the skin to combat dryness and maintaining elasticity of the skin. Under eye dark circles can be reduced by applying creams loaded with vitamin E. various skin nourishing creams are available in the market suitable according to the skin type.

Facials are good for nourishing the skin. Natural ingredients like honey, milk, aloe Vera, avocados, chamomile oil, yoghurt and egg can be used for nourishing to help soften rough and course skin. Papaya and orange juice can be used to massage over the face as a home made skin nourishing product.

To nourish the skin or to make the skin radiant fats like ghee and olive oil should be included in your diet. Juicy fruits like melons, grapes, plums etc should be taken in breakfast. Different types of grains should be tried for different meals. Too much of cooking of vegetables results in loss of nutrients thus avoid too much cooking of vegetables.

Various spices like turmeric, ginger, cumin and coriander should be used to improve digestion. Adequate sleep of at least 7-8 hours is must for a healthy skin. You should have moderate doses of mineral supplements along with the diet. Loosing and regaining of weight results in skin marks and premature wrinkles. Plenty of water should be taken daily.
