Simple Tips for Taking Care of Your Nails
Want to have great looking nails without having to spend a fortune in the salon or spa? Looking after our nails is not always difficult. The only important thing is to follow certain simple nail care tips and have the right products for carrying them out.
File Well
Emery boards and nails files are used for smoothening and shaping the nails. However, all kinds of files are not suitable for our nails. Metals files tend to create jagged edges as well as crack the nail. It is advisable to use a good quality wood nail file instead. The latest and best improvement is the crystal glass file which offers the best results in filing our nails. Choose the right nail file and file gently using short strokes in one direction. Begin from the corner and gently move towards the center. Give a finishing touch with a long and smooth stroke. Some good options for nail shapes are round, square and oval.
Remove Nail Polish Well
Use a nail polish remover that does not contain any acetone. Dip a cotton ball in the remove and gently wipe each nail. Avoid applying remover on the cuticles as it dries the skin. You can also use a peel off nail polish so that there is not need to use a nail polish remover.
Cuticle Care
Cuticles are responsible for eliminating the risk of bacteria entering in our body. Thus, it is important to trim off the cuticles to avoid suffocating the growth of the nails. Cuticle oils and creams are also available which can soften it. After applying the softener, soak hands in hot water for a while and use a cuticle pusher on the nails.
Strengthen Nails by Polishing
In order to prepare the nails for colored nail polish, a base coat should be applied first. This helps in avoid discoloring of nails and also strengthen the nails. This is because nail strengtheners form a protective layer over the nails which make it less prone to chip and break.
Maintain Well
Once the entire process of nail care is done, it is also important to protect it from different elements. Remember to moisturize the cuticles regularly, wear gloves while cleaning and doing dishes and eat a healthy diet to have healthy nails.
