Sex Education: How To Clear Your Child’s Queries About Sex?
Most of the parents hesitate to discuss the topic of sex in front of their children. But sex education is a subject which always begins with child’s inquisitiveness about his or her own body.
If you are a parent of young child you may be finding yourself safe- at least for a while. But you can not shirk off the responsibility of answering to your child’s queries over sex whenever he or she raises them before you.
Being a parent you can properly guide your child and clear his or her queries over different body organs and their functions so as to set the stage for imparting sex education to him or her.
Children come to know about their bodies simultaneously while learning to walk and speak. Let your child now the names of sex organs particularly during bathing.
If you find your child pointing to any part of body you must tell him or her about it. Also let your child know about the private body parts.
Usually children show curiosity about their own body parts. But whenever your child asks you about your own body, do not giggle and laugh. Instead of being afraid and embarrassed you must wisely answer to your child’s queries. Respond to your child in accordance with his or her age.
Most of the toddlers are found stimulating themselves for expressing their natural sexual inquisitiveness and proclivity. Male children are seen to be pulling their penises while girls are observed rubbing their outer genitalia.
Let your child know that masturbation is a normal activity but it should always be done in private and not in public. If you find your child masturbating in public you must immediately try to divert his attention to anything else so as to avoid embarrassment. In case your child continues to masturbate publicly or openly make him or her understand the significance of privacy.
Remember that it is normal for a child to masturbate. But if your child is masturbating frequently you must consider any problem in his or her life. May be he or she is doing it out of frustration of not getting enough attention and care at home. If you are worried about your child’s abnormal activity and behavior you must see his or her doctor.
