Many eyebrows are raised, when someone talks about sex during pregnancy. But there is nothing harmful in it. Pregnancy is a very enjoyable period for a woman. Sex during pregnancy can be more enjoyable. This is because of many reasons like lubrication is vagina is more during pregnancy, there is no tension of child birth and other reasons.
About sex during pregnancy, many people have myths that intercourse could hurt the baby; the baby could know that sex is going on. But the truth is that your baby won’t be hurt because s/he is protected by the fluid in the womb and by the abdomen of the mom. Moreover, your baby has no idea that something is going around.
Sex during pregnancy can only be harmful if there is any risk of miscarriage, if cervix is weak and opens too early, if there is unexplained bleeding from the vagina. Women who have the above mentioned complications should consult their doctor before doing sex.
You can fulfill your desire for sex by other ways too. This include kissing, oral sex, cuddling. It is not just the intercourse that can satisfy you. One thing to keep in mind while having oral sex is that your partner should not blow air into your vagina. This may block a blood vessel that can be harmful for you and your baby.
Some women want more sex during pregnancy. This is due to the hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy. While for some women, this drive for sex comes in waves. Commonly, women have less interest in sex during the first trimester due to fatigue and other reasons. But when they come into the second trimester the fatigue is almost gone and they are more interested for sex. In the third trimester, they have little interest in sex.
Proper sex positions are very important during pregnancy. Wrong positions can be unsafe for the baby and his/her development. Woman should not lie on her back. Instead the woman should be on the top. Another position is to lay your partner behind you sideways. For first and second trimester, hands and knees position will be best.
