Safety Tips For Dog Walkers
If you are a pet lover and have a dog as a pet, you should also be concerned about his health. Just like human beings, dogs too need to get involved in physical activities for smooth blood circulation and proper digestion. For this purpose you need to take your dog for a walk.
Walking with your dog can be a pleasant experience if he obeys you. But if he doesn’t obey you it could be a painful experience. Therefore, before taking your dog for a walk, ensure that he follows some of your basic commands.Remember, a disobedient dog which can’t be controlled even by you could be dangerous to pedestrians as well you.
Even if your dog is obedient and well behaved, you should use a leash and a collar. Most of the dogs get out of control at the sight of other dogs. If your dog is challenging, use a halter-harness or a choke chain collar so that you can have extra control over your dog. For night walking, you should use retractable leashes so that it could allow you to adjust the length of the lead.
Before you take your dog for a walk, ensure that you have registered your dog to the concerned department. You should also place identification on your dog before you take him for a walk. You can get identification tags from pet supply stores or through online shopping.
While walking with your dog, respect and follow the local rules for dog walking. Do not go with your dog in the areas where dogs are not allowed such as parks, recreation areas etc. Stay away from schools and hospitals while walking with your dog because school children or patients may get disturbed by your dog.
Don’t let your dog pooch anywhere. You should not make the streets or sea beach dirty. Find the right place for your dog to pooch and the right method to clean it. If you are going for a long walk, carry some water. Don’t allow your dog to drink water from dirty ponds or puddles. Offer fresh water to him.
Dogs can prove to be great walking companions, and walking with a well trained dog means you are walking too. This gives you double benefits. Regular walk will keep you and your dog healthy.
