Removing Stubborn Stains From Clothes
Getting a stubborn stain on your favorite dress can be quite traumatizing for most of us. Removing these stains can be quite difficult most of the time and people often choose to put all these clothing up for donation. However, it is advisable to try and correct the damage caused first. If the right procedure is followed, all kinds of stains can be removed off different fabrics. Let us take a look at some of the most stubborn stains and the process of removing them.
Blood
In case you get a blood stain on your clothes, the first thing that you need to do is soak the clothes in detergent. Next, use hydrogen peroxide on the stain to remove it completely. However, before applying, test the solution on an unseen area of the clothing such as inner corner of seams, particularly on the colored clothes.
Chewing Gum
If you get chewing gum on a piece of clothing, put it inside a plastic bag and put it in the freezer overnight. This will harden the gum and you will be able to remove it easily. If done correctly and timely, the chewing gum will not leave any stain.
Grass
Grass stains on clothing can be removed using methylated spirits and denatured alcohol. Simply dab the stain using a rag and wipe the strains away. After this, wash the clothes naturally.
Grease
Eucalyptus oil is the best solution when it comes to removing grease stains from clothes. Apply a few drops of this oil on the stain and rub gently. Wash off normally after this process.
Ink
Often pens leak ink inside the breast pocket or we mistakenly leave a long streak on the blouse. For stubborn ink stains, spray a can of hair spray on the affected area. Let it dry and then wash using your detergent.
Nicotine
On nicotine stain, apply lemon juice on affected area for few minutes and then wash off as usual. As an alternate of lemon juice, you can also use bleach.
