Dehydration is a common syndrome in the hot and humid climatic regions of the world. Most of the times the sun rays suck the fluid out of our body and as a result the body fails to perform its normal duties normally due to the loss of water from the cells. The effects of dehydration may range from mild sickness and headache to sunstroke, severe vomiting etc. You cannot escape the climate and with the mercury level constantly rising here is what you can do.
The Necessity Of Water:
The best form of fluid the body accepts is water, water and more water. It is always advisable to drink at least 10 glasses of water per day under normal conditions and activities. Adequate consumption of water keeps you away from dehydration.
Fluid For Sportsmen:
If you are a sportsman or perform highly laborious jobs throughout the day, then water may not be sufficient to supply the minerals lost due to sweating. You can rely on the sports fluids available in the market or can have glucose drinks. Pure glucose gets absorbed in the body ten times faster and provides instant energy. Also energy drinks like Red Bull are also high on calorie value that provides instant energy.
Activities:
When the weather is hot and suffocating it is always better to have breaks in the regular exercise schedule. Brisk jogging, walking, weight training may lead to excessive fluid loss and make you sick. Go for water sports instead. They are much fun and less tiring.
Beverages:
Summer is the high time you distinguish between good and bad beverages. Aerated water, cold drinks, beer or alcoholic drinks and caffeinated drinks in fact increases the percent of fluid secretion of the body and also enhances the conditions leading to dehydration. Stay away from them.
