    Prevent Osteoporosis – Save Yourself From Its Dangers

    Osteoporosis is a disease which can lead to fragile bones due to low bone mass and loss of bone tissue. This disease makes the bones so weak that they can break at the smallest pretext. It mostly affects women. Females above fifty years of age stand a high chance of developing this disease. It is important to take proper care of yourself and take suitable preventive measures against osteoporosis or else, this disease will affect your daily life and you may have to compromise with the quality of your life.

    Prevention against osteoporosis should be ideally started early in life. The best way to keep this disease away from you is by developing strong bones during childhood and adolescence. But as an adult you can take the help of a few rules which will help you stay away from osteoporosis.

    The first rule would be to maintain a diet which is rich in calcium and vitamins. Milk, cheese, yogurt, tofu, beans and cereals are good sources of the required vitamins and calcium. Along with that, you should also take supplements to fulfill the need of calcium and vitamins necessary for improving your bone density. Maintaining good food habits and regular supplements will help you a lot to fight against this dangerous disease of osteoporosis.

    A healthy lifestyle helps to keep almost all diseases and illnesses away from you. It is similarly effective in case of osteoporosis too. You must not lead a lifestyle which is not good for your body. Say “no” to smoking and try to stay away from alcohol as much as you can. These habits or addictions are harmful for you in different ways and may invite many complications or diseases in your body which may include osteoporosis too. Along with that, include exercise in your daily routine.

    Weight-bearing exercises are a must to make your bones stronger. So you must take the pain to exercise on a regular basis and involve weight – bearing exercise in the routine.

    And lastly, you should take a bone density test followed by a doctor’s advice on regular intervals. By this, you can not only understand your position and chances of developing this disease, but also work on improving the situation as per your doctor’s advice.

    But none of these rules alone will be able to protect you from osteoporosis. You must apply all of them together to get benefitted by them and stay away from osteoporosis.
