Preflight Checklist- Tips On How To Get Ready For Your Flight
There are several things that you need to take care of prior to your flight. From booking your ticket to packing your bags every step needs special attention and detailing. In order to help you out and prevent you from forgetting any steps we’ve put together a step- by- step checklist.
Flight details:
This is one of the most important steps in the planning stage. This should be your first priority. Buying your tickets early will help you to save a lot of money.
Tickets are available cheaper if you buy them at least 45 days prior to your departure date. You don’t need to book a return ticket if you are not sure of your return date.
A return ticket will tempt you to come back home the moment things don’t work in your favor; this is especially true for those who are leaving home for the first time or those travelling abroad for studies.
If your travel requires you to change flights then you will need to keep a buffer of 4 to 5 hours for immigration and any flight delays that you may encounter.
Baggage:
All airlines have a standard baggage rule in terms of weight that you can carry. International travel allows 2 bags not more than 23 kilos each and 1 carry on bag that weights no more than 8 kilos.
The check in baggage will be handed over to the aircraft when you check in and you will only have your carry on baggage with you.
It’s a good idea to pack an extra set of all your requirements that you need incase your baggage does not show up at your destination.
Airlines often loose bags in transit and thus it’s a good idea to have all essentials with you. Pack all documents like certificates (education and work related), money, and an extra pair of clothes, socks and toiletries.
If you are traveling to a cold country then pack your thermal wear in your baggage so that you have it with you. The most important thing to remember is to tag your bag with your name, destination and phone number. This will help the airline to get in touch with you if your baggage is lost.
Important facts:
Reach the airport 3 hours before departure time so that you can check in your luggage at leisure and you don’t have to worry about missing your flight. Check all your travel documents before you leave your house.
