Planning A Family Reunion
It is often an underestimated aspect of our lifetimes. More importantly is often an undermined aspect. A family is a foundation for every human being. The best parties, reunions, or get together are made with the family.
A family can be your immediate family, your extended family, and even your relatives. Your close friends can also be called as your family if you wish to. There is no postulate that specifies a family member as only being a blood member, or with whom there is a legitimate relationship.
Why a family reunion?
Family reunions are all about creating more and more bonds with your near and dear ones. With a strong family, you are not alone. You always have support, and encouragement from all quarters.
You will feel empowered with your family members. There is a general level of confidence in you, if you know that you have your family to fall back on. So it is important to aggregate all your family members once in a while, and have a blast of a time.
Who is your family?
Your father and mother
Your father-in-law; mother-in-law
Your co-brother, co-sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law
Your step-father, step-mother
Your brothers and sisters
Your uncles and aunts
Your cousins
Your wife’s or husbands relatives
Your closest friends
Planning a family reunion
Before starting of with a family reunion, choose your location. You can do some asking around to determine who likes which location. There might be mixed opinions. Some like Bahamas, some like the mountains, some like a backyard barbecue party…and so on.
Decide on your budget. Collect the majority opinions, and if it fits your budget, then go for the location that the majority has chosen. If it doesn’t fit your budget, then stick to a location that fits to your budget.
Next, plan to send out invites to all your family members, near and far. Send it out well in advance…say a month in advance. This will allow them to plan as well.
Decide on the menu. Get your menu customized to include favorite dishes of your family members. Choose the drinks menu as well.
Choose the time of the day the event will be held. Plan on the music that will be played during the event. Do you want a live band playing? Or would you settle for music played through a music system?
Plan on your decoration arrangements. Plan surprise games during the family reunion.
