Organize a Camping Trip for Children
Story books create vivid pictures about camping trips and every child wishes to experience it. Depending on the age of the child, various camping trips can be organized.
Toddlers
A mini camping trip can be organized for small children as they may not like to stay outdoors for a full night (due to a fear of darkness). The camping trip can be of a short duration, about 3-4 hours, after sunset. The tent can be set out in the garden itself, with sleeping mats, a bonfire, marshmallows to roast, and torch lights. And whenever the child gets tired or weary of the darkness, the camping trip can be ended quickly.
Teenagers
The whole concept of camping out for the night is exciting for teenagers as it spells ‘adventure’. An external venue like a public park or riverside (that allows tents to be pitched) can be chosen for the venue. The location need not be out of town as then transportation needs to be taken care of and if there are any medical emergencies, it may become a problem. Sleeping arrangements like adequate number of tents, sleeping bags/mats, food supplies, emergency medical kit, and entertainment will need to be arranged. Alongside, it must be ensured that public conveniences are near by.
Family
If a family camping trip is being organized, then it is possible to drive out of town and set up tents in camping locations. All equipment, food (preferably tinned), toiletries and medicines will need to be carried. For those who do not wish to make an effort in arranging everything from scratch can always opt for adventure camps that are organized by tour operators. In this case, except for personal clothing and belongings, everything else is provided by the campsites.
Whichever is the option that is chosen, the concept of camping must be introduced to all children as it is a unique experience.
