Natural Arthritis Remedies
Millions of people suffer from arthritis and this number is increasing day by day. Among all forms of arthritis, the most common is Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid arthritis. It mostly attacks people when they reach the age of 40-45 years. A patient feels pain rising from neck, hands, back, legs and feet. Rheumatoid arthritis is a more serious disease because along with joints of fingers, hips, knees, wrist and feet, it affects muscles and tissues of the body as well. The pain and stiffness in joints are the main symptoms of arthritis.
There are prescription drugs and over the counter drugs available to get rid of pain, but these drugs only reduce the pain and often carry side effects with them.
There are natural remedies available which the patient can use to get great relief.
Potato Juice
Raw potato juice is considered to be a very effective treatment for rheumatic and arthritic symptoms and has been used in folk medicine for thousands of years. Potato juice should be prepared by cutting a medium sized potato along with its skin into thin slices and keeping them soaked over night in a cold glass of water. This soaked water should be drunk early in the morning on empty stomach. Fresh juice extracted from a medium size potato can be diluted in a cup of water and drunk.
Raw Vegetable Juices
Juice extracted from green leafy vegetables and mixed with vegetable juice of carrot, beet root or celery in equal proportion is a very effective treatment for arthritis. The raw juice acts as alkaline and dissolves the deposits accumulated around the joint. A cup of pineapple juice which contains bromelain is equally effective in reducing inflammation and swelling in arthritis patients.
Sesame Seeds
To get relief from frequent joint pain, soak a teaspoon of black sesame seeds in ¾ cup of water overnight. Now drink the water along with seeds in empty stomach early in the morning.
Copper
Copper is believed to be very effective in reducing arthritis pain. Wearing copper bracelet or drinking water kept in copper container helps in strengthening muscular system.
Calcium
It has been observed that patients who take calcium supplements get considerable relief in pain. Arthritis patients should take this mineral in the calcium lactate form twice or thrice a day.
Garlic
Garlic which contains anti-inflammatory properties helps to reduce pain very effectively. It can be taken raw or cooked or in the form of garlic tablets.
There are several other fruits and herbs that have been found beneficial in treating arthritis like bananas which contain vitamin B6, lime juice. Alfalfa, green gram soup are some of them. The diet of arthritis patients should include lots of fruits, vegetables and salads which can produce alkalinity in the blood.
Massage of warm coconut oil or mustard oil after adding few pieces of camphor can reduce pain and stiffness in joints by increasing blood supply.
