acne-scars-300x2641Acne is the most common skin condition in the world. There are various kinds of acne, the mild form of acne can be easily treated in home by following simple home remedies or over the counter products. It is the moderate and severe form that has to treated by prescription drugs given by a dermatologist. There are times that a dose of tetracyclines is given to treat the severe pustular forms of acne. The most common form of prescription drug given to such acne suffers is minocycline.

Acne is formed on the surface of the skin when the excessive oils and dead skin clog the follicle and the bacteria causes a pimple to appear on the surface of the skin. This common skin condition is known as acne, if the acne is not treated in time then it can give rise to a number of other problems. The untreated acnes can leave surface pain around the pimple. There can be further infection also because of the presence of the bacteria that can make it worse and leave a scar behind.

Minocycline is used commonly in severe cases of acne, as this does not let the bacteria grow which results in reducing the inflammation. The other antibiotics that can be given in acne problems include clindamycin, oxycycline, erythromycin and tetracycline.

Minocycline is known to have the least side effects as compared to other antibiotics, the only flipside is that it is expensive than other drugs. It is available only on prescription in both the tablet and capsule form. According to the composition it can be taken either once or twice in a day. It takes almost four months of regular Minocycline dose to treat an acne completely.

The generic names for Minocycline pills readily sold in the market are called minocyn, vectrin, and dynacin .These drugs help in reducing redness, swelling and tenderness of the pimple. Though there are some dermatologist who believe that the Minocycline should not be taken by patients of swollen joints.

The pill can be taken along with the application of other topical acne cream as well. The application is simple for starters the pill should be taken at bedtime to get the body accustomed to the medication. Then it can be taken in them morning also .There have been people who have complained of dizziness while on Minocycline medication.

The more generic forms of the drug have to be taken two hours before having the meal. Though not many side effects of the antibiotic is known, but there have been two that very few patients have complained for. A patient might complain of hepatitis causing severe joint pains. The other is psuedotumor cerebri, which is an accumulation of fluid around the brain causing headache and vision problems. If you suffer from even of these side effects after taking the medication then its consumption should be stopped immediately.

If the Minocycline starts to show positive results then the dosage has to be lowered otherwise at times it can accumulate in the body causing dark pigmentation, which starts resembling a bruise. In order to avoid this anyone taking Minocycline should always supplement it with a dose of 500mg of Vitamin C. This will not let the skin turn dark.

Children and pregnant women are not advised to take this medicine as at times it can give skeletal problems and permanent teeth discolouration.

Minocycline is not a common drug and is not prescribed very often. On the other hand the acne sufferers who have used this drug have all shown positive results and almost 90 per cent of them have not got any side effects.
