Before applying color to your hair: One day before you get your hair colored, wash your hair with a clarifying shampoo as the stronger detergents are able to wash off the extra product build up enabling the color to penetrate deeper and last longer. It is advisable that you choose colors which are fade resistant like blonde or brunette as reds have the tendency to wash way faster because of their small color molecules that can evaporate from the hair easily. After applying color to your hair: Do not shampoo you hair before 48 hours of applying color on your hair as you have to give time to the dye molecules to settle in to the strands. Use a shampoo which is made for color treated hair as it contains gentle detergents and then wash with tepid water as hot water tends to expand the cuticles which later on contribute to the fading of the color. It is advisable to install a water purifier as tap water contains chlorine which promotes bleaching. Use a good conditioner with built in sunscreen for prevention from stripping off the shade by the sun.
On a regular basis, take the following care: Once a week, apply conditioning mask as the hydration strengthens the strands and makes them less susceptible to environmental damage which is responsible for fading.
