Liquid nitrogen is a safe and secure kind of treatment without the use of any surgical methods in treating most of the skin related problems. The treatment is used for various diseases of the skin which includes skin tags, lumps on the skin, veruccas, fleshy skin bumps, warts etc. It helps in treating various wounds of the skin.
The treatment came more into practice specifically in cases where people were reluctant to undergo a surgery or had some kind of allergies with the local anesthesia. The temperature level is somewhere around 196 decree Celsius. There are no such risks involved with the procedure of treatment nor it is too scary as many people think and are afraid of getting a treatment for their skin. It is generally believed that various cases of skin treatment are left completely untreated or have some kinds of definite side effects. But this is not the case of the liquid nitrogen technique. Though we would not say anything about the side effects because this entirely depends on the type of the skin the affected person has. Its quite obvios that if something would be performed on the skin or any area of the body it would certainly make you uncomfortable to some extent.
The process of liquid nitrogen is as follows:
It starts as an attack to the affected cells. They are targeted with pressure which leads to their death. This is then followed by cryosurgery. The purpose is to dehydrate the cells and the tissues which are done by turning the water present around or in the tissue into ice. This results in providing icy effect to the blood vessels which are almost frozen. But frozen would not be a correct word for them they get extremely cooled. This leads to various internal changes inside the body leading to the end of cell necrosis. It leads to various ischaemic changes which are seen in the cells and the tissues inside.
Essential equipments that are necessary for the surgical process in liquid notrogen:
Cotton tip
Devices for Thermo-couple/thermo couple devices
Tank for storage/storage cylinder
Spray/ equipment for spraying or the spray tank
Cryo probes
Common problems which are involved in the entire process of liquid nitrogen:
1 The problem of dipigmentation.
2 Formation of scars: This is generally detected in all the cases. The patient has to suffer through mild or slight severe scarring all around the affected area.
3 The person might have to suffer though sligh irritaiton or a throbbing sentation around the treated area.
4 Bullous formation.
Patient should take care about a few things before he/she undergoes the treatment. These are really necessary and are helpful in avoiding most of the complications and problems which might have to face during their treatment procedure:
1 The patient should know about the complications which are commonly found during and after the treatment. They might have to suffer through some pain during this time.
2 Be it a cotton swab or a spray unit which ever equiment should be used but shoulbe be chosen with good care and attention. The type of equipment varies from one skin to the other.
3 The level of flow and the distance etc should be adjusted. It is for the spray unit basically where the a controll is required to be adjusted and even the freezing time needs to be checked. This checking is required for controlling the freezing level.
4 It is obvious and necessary to check the leisons which are malignant for giving proper care. After this only the problem will be cured effectively.
5 The level of freezing should be really minimal and in some cases it is gnerally avoided.
General side effects that are often detected in all the cases are:
1 The person gets a feeling of burn around the affected area
2 The area becomes reddish in color almost right after the treatment
3 The skin would get a kind of crust which would stay for around a month after the treatment. Even after the elemination of the crust there would be ichiness in the skin. The skin might get a scar after the crust is gone permanently. This is often seen in all the cases. In some cases the patient has to get another treatment because the first one did not provide the desired results.
