Job Interview Attire For Men
Qualification, skills, experience and attitude are essential qualities for getting a job; there is no doubt about it. But for getting a good job, wearing the right interview attire is equally important. Today personal appearance has become one of the top considerations of the employers. So don’t miss this opportunity to make a good first impression on your potential employer. Thus try your best to dress properly for the type of job you are seeking.
1. If you are appearing for an interview for a white color job like law or banking or for some executive post, you must wear a suit and tie. Wear plain black, grey or navy blue suit with matching tie and black leather shoes with lace. Take care about the fittings of the suit.
2. Before you appear for the interview, try to gather some information about the company you will be interviewing with to know the industry they are dealing with to match yourself with the universal dress code or try to know what current employees wear there.
3. Your belt and shoes should be matching and wear socks that are darker than your pants.
4. If your position doesn’t allow you to wear suit or the company is little informal, then wear some light colored button down shirt and black pant neatly ironed. Pressed khakis are also good choice in that case. You can wear a tie also.
5. Wear well polished shoes, either brown or black leather shoes.
6. Interview accessories should be strictly professional. Either carry a brief case or leather office bag or portfolio for resume and other documents. Do not carry folders that are usually carried by college students.
7. Just wear a watch and limit wearing other fashion accessories like cufflinks, chain rings etc.
8. Avoid spraying excessive perfume, cologne or after shave lotion.
9. Your hair should be well groomed; finger nails should be trimmed well and cleaned properly; teeth should be well brushed.
10. Do not keep chewing gum or any other object in your mouth.
The safest way to dress for appearing in an interview is the conservative way but if you can collect some information about your prospective employer, you will be on the safest route. Proper dressing will help you to fit into the organization. If you are overdressed or under dressed, your potential employer may find you unfit for the job.
