Intimacy And Marriage

By on March 28, 2011

A marriage is a total and fulfilling experience; it is built on mutual love, trust, respect and understanding. Marriage means lifetime commitment and companionship and being supportive and complementary to each other.

Yet as the relationship grows older and therefore stronger a time may come when both partners begin to take each other for granted. A stage may come when the initial spark dies out and, marriage becomes a routine monotony.
The couple may start blaming each other and begin to remain involved in their own respective worlds.

The couple may remain content in this present situation for a while until suddenly they may discover that there is something that is missing in their life.  That something is intimacy that makes a relationship complete.  Intimacy shouldn’t only be connected with sex though it’s an essential component; intimacy in marriage is everything that is exclusively between the couple & which can can be either emotional, or sexual or, purely a bond of friendship.

In a marriage intimacy between the couple in all aspects becomes essential to make the marriage work successfully, to keep the magic alive and the yearning for each other everlasting. And only emotional intimacy can bring most satisfaction in sexual intimacy thereby making the marriage an all rounded success.

Life has its ups and downs and similarly a marriage goes through various upheavals. Yet we have to realize that even during down times we don’t stop living life, so a marriage shouldn’t be given up when the spark starts to fade away and the marriage seems bit stale. Rather both the partners must introspect and work together in a matured way to bring back the intimacy which initially brought them together.

Intimacy in marriage is something that doesn’t develop in a day but develop steadily with each passing day and moment of togetherness. Therefore even if a time comes when things may seem to have gone a bit downhill there is no reason to lose heart as the intimacy can always be brought back.

Begin to value each other, communicate more, speak of old beautiful times and touch and hold each other lovingly and these few things can be enough to do wonders. Fights can happen but keep it in the back and give up sulking; one must never carry the grudge to the next day or go to bed angry.
