An immediate denture, which is also called temporary denture, is usually put into the respective places after immediate removal of the natural teeth. Before the gums get healed after the teeth extraction, dentures are placed under this type of implantation. After around six months of time, the immediate dentures are needed to be re based. Again, the new dentures are needed to be made. Let’s weigh the both advantages and disadvantages of going for the immediate dentures.
Advantages of immediate dentures: As the name suggests, you get the replacement for your teeth immediately, which does not demand you to appear in the public without teeth. As immediately after the extraction of teeth the immediate dentures are placed, it helps to stop the bleeding. It also provide a protection cover to the sensitive tissues from the area of tooth extraction.
Immediate dentures help you to chew and have your food after the implantation. It has the shortest waiting period before you get your implantation done after teeth’s removal.
Disadvantages: Like everything on this earth has both the positive and negative sides, so is the case with the immediate dentures. The immediate dentures cannot be suitable for everyone. Due to some specific oral problems and general health concerns, dentists don’t advise then to go for the particular implantation.
It might demand you to visit your dentist more frequently, as the changes in the gum are certainly to come and for the healing process of the gum as well.
As I have already mentioned that after six months, you need to rebase your dentures, so this may demand you more expenses, in case you need new dentures to be made.
In the above, I have tried to give you a general impression about what an immediate denture is. However, if you are considering to go for it then take the appointment of your dentist to have a clear cut idea and the exact amount of expense to be incurred for this.
