How To Take Care Of Your Skin In winter
Our skin is the most delicate organ of our body which is directly exposed to the outside environment. Our skin is the first organ to face the environmental changes and the pollution of outer atmosphere. So the very first effect occurs on our skin due to the harsh environmental changes. Every person has different kind of skin. Some may have oily, dry, combination of oily and dry, sensitive, etc. and some also has the normal skin.
According to the type of skin, every person gets affected differently to this environment. There are some factors which are good for one type of skin but bad for another kind of skin and worse for the third type of skin. Every season affects our skin differently and with different modes. In summer season, there is a common problem of the skin darkening and in winter, dryness of the skin.
How Winter Affects Skin
Out of the whole body, the skin on face, lips and hands gets more affected by the cold weather as exposure of these body parts directly to the cold atmosphere. In winter, our skin becomes more dry, black and tight. All these changes occur because of the loss of moisture from the skin or body. The moisture is very much needed the well binding of the skin texture and when it loses the skin becomes hard and dry.
Due to this loss of moisture, some cells of our skin tend to die and these dead cells also accumulate on the skin. In winter, we generally try to make warm environment in our house by some means. But when we come inside in our house from the outside cold environment, our skin is unable to balance this sudden temperature change and start losing its normal texture. The very hot water further accompanies in the cause of moisture of the skin making it dry.
Skin Care Tips in Winter
The first important thing is to maintain the balance of the skin. The skin must be moisturized properly and regularly. Apply moisturizer on your skin strictly at least half an hour before you go out. Drink as much as water you can daily as this will add the moisture in the skin and body. Avoid too hot water bath instead you can have a warm water bath. Use lip balms regularly but do not try to exfoliate forcefully your lip skin as this could injure your lips leading to some kind of infection. Daily gentle home facial can increase the blood circulation to the skin which is generally slowed down in winter as through our blood the nutrients will be reached to the skin to maintain the balance of the skin.
Do not expose your hands to outside environment instead you can use hand gloves to cover them. Take good balanced diet with green leafy vegetables and citrus and juicy fruits. You can apply on your body especially on your hands, face and lips before bath. Have the oil body massage daily, if possible, before bath. Try not to use strong soaps instead you can use face wash and shower wash. Always remember, the needs of the skin in summer and winter are different, so be ready with the new moisturizing products as winter arrives.
