Diabetes is a disease which has affected millions of people in USA.Diabetes is a very dangerous disease and if sugar level in the body rises above the danger level, it may cause paralysis, coma, stroke, blindness, kidney failure, nerve damage etc. Though elder people are more likely to suffer from diabetes, it can affect anyone due to various reasons. You should follow a healthy lifestyle and stay away from diabetes. Some useful guidelines on how to stay away from diabetes are given below.
People who do sedentary jobs are more likely to develop diabetes. In order to prevent diabetes you should get up from your seat and make some movements. If you sit for long time, Vitamin K may develop in your body more than required which can lead to thickening of your blood. Due to this blood flow in your blood vessels get obstructed.
But when you exercise, Vitamin K in your body lowers to normal level resulting in thinning of blood. This helps your pancreas and liver to function properly and prevents you from becoming the victim of diabetes.
There are various exercises which can help you to stay away from diabetes. If you can’t go to gym or yoga classes regularly, you should walk for one hour daily. If you can’t spend one hour in walking at a time, walk for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. You can also do cycling, dancing and swimming. Such physical activities not only prevent you from diabetes but also keep you physically and mentally fit and healthy.
To stay away from diabetes you should eat fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables instead of consuming fried or oily foods or foods cooked in hydrogenated oil. You should eat plant foods such as whole grains, soy, cabbage, tomatoes etc instead of animal foods such as meat, chicken, beef etc. Eat fiber rich foods such as oatmeal, cabbage etc to prevent or control diabetes.
If you keep your weight under control you can stay away from diabetes. Obese and overweight people are more likely to develop diabetes. You can control your weight by consuming healthy diet and exercising regularly.
Apart from the above mentioned guidelines you should also avoid stress and drink plenty of water to stay away from diabetes.
