Jeena was very excited when she received the call letter from the renowned multinational company. She was very happy to think that now she will be a part of this organization, which is going to be a giant leap in her professional career.
But as the day of her joining was approaching she could feel an unknown fear, an anxiety, rather a mixed feeling in her mind. She was totally unaware of the new office environment, how her colleagues are going to be and several other tensions were shrouding her mind. What was more tormenting was the fact whether she made the right choice in opting for the company and whether that will give her the job satisfaction.
Whenever we join a new office or change to a new job for betterment there are certain common questions that keep on circulating in our minds. It is more difficult to decide when you are offered.
This trauma is very common in almost everybody. a number of jobs with various portfolios, profiles and pay packages as soon as you pass out from one hand some jobs offer excellent pay packages and incentives, while on the other hand some your university or institute with loads of degrees that are quite lucrative in the professional world.
On the other hand, there are other jobs offer grounds for better learning opportunities, thereby adding experiences to your curriculum vitae. The first and foremost thing that you should look out for is how authentic the company is. Do not join a job driven by necessity or as an after effect of hasty decision. Companies that do not have a proper and legalized infrastructure can never guarantee you the permanency of the job.
They can close down any day without any prior notification or declare bankrupt and deprive you of your rightful financial dues altogether. Hence, it is always wiser to wit a few more and search for an authentic company to work with. There are certain ways as to which you can find out if the company is authentic or not.
A legalized website
Almost 90% of the companies that are legal and authentic will possess their own website and a subsequent e-mailing address. Those of the companies that use free e-mailing addresses like hotmail, rediffmail, yahoo, gmail etc are more likely to be looked at with scorn. Spending money on a paid website is not probably the job of a fraud company.
Prior information of the company
Collecting prior information of the company is utmost important while you decide to join the company. Try to find out from the website any valuable information of the company that might be beneficial for you. Work out authentic sources that might provide you with the information you can bang upon. It might be an ex-colleague of the company whom you know, o any media news on the company or the local shops and people in the same locality as the office. Cultivate more and more sources that would help you to check the authenticity of the company.
Demanding too much of personal information
Always be skeptical about a company that demands too much of personal information from you, especially those of which are not at all related to your work profile. For instance, if you have applied for a managerial post, too much of informal attitude of the interviewer and excessive delving into your personal life like how happy are you in marriage, do you have a before marriage physical affair, are you currently having affair with anybody, who will pick you up after office, etc.
Be skeptical if job demands money
Never go for a company that asks for a donation from as you opt for a post. There can be no job that asks for money from the employee for a particular post. Even if the job says that a percentage of your salary will be chucked of every month but fails to show the valid reasons and documents supporting it should be treated with suspicion. Now, coming back to the basic portfolio of the company, assuming it is authentic, we have to consider certain other factors as well.
The detailed idea of the pay package and salary
When you intend to join the company, after the interview round is over, meet the human resource department and find out every details of the pay package being offered. Have a clear idea of gross package that you will get every month. Also get information on what will be your take home salary and for the rest of the salary being offered what will be the incentive corresponding to that and also if there are medical allowances, provident fund schemes etc.
Idea on the job profile
Get a clear idea on the job profile that the company is expecting from the chosen candidate. You have to be very professional in this regard and be smart enough to inquire the authority what are their expectations from a selected candidate, what will be the specific areas of operation and what will be the target the candidate must aim at.
Analyze yourself carefully
The most important thing after all other aspects is to go for a self analysis. After you have got all the information about the candidate’s expected portfolio, the background information of the company, critically examine your skills. Decide if you will be able to serve the company successfully or not.
Also, decide if the work nature of the company suits you or not. Think whether you will get full job satisfaction in working for the company or not. While deciding keep aside all factors like the lucrative pay package being offered, the brand name, the tempting incentives etc. as all these will only arise when you prove yourself successful for the post.
