How To Save Yourself From Food Allergies
The term allergy can be referred to as the violent reaction by immune system against bodily contact of some foreign substances present in our environment. They may not be harmful in themselves, but causes reactions like fever, asthma, eczema and other conditions and symptoms referred to as allergies to some people.
An allergic person’s immune system overreacts to allergens and produces a special type of antibody (IgE) in order to attack the invading material. Other blood cells in the body release some other chemicals. And together they produce the symptoms of an allergic reaction. The most common symptoms of allergic reaction are runny nose, sneezing, itchy eyes and ears, shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing, skin rashes or sinus problem. Allergy is a widespread problem and children are affected more.
The substance in our environment that causes allergy is called allergens. Anything can be allergen for any particular person. Some known allergens include pollen, dust, danders, molds, mite and foods. Allergens are foreign to the body and can cause reaction to a particular person. Some less common allergens are also there like nuts, latex and certain fruits. Some drugs like penicillin are non protein allergens. They too cause allergic reaction when they come in contact with proteins in the body.
If you are one of them who are suffering from food allergy, you have to avoid that specific food item. It is not an easy job. Many times the ingredient is hidden in the dishes and unknowingly we eat them. Food allergies are often hereditary. When someone has repeated exposure to certain foods, it is also considered as food allergy.
Multiple food allergies causes a ‘leaky gut’ in the intestine. In the lining of the intestine, a small opening can develop which allows undigested food to enter the blood stream. It becomes difficult to absorb nutrients from the particular food to which we are allergic and it causes irritation to the intestine; so it is better to stay away from that food. And for multiple food allergies, you have to make a diet plan in such away that the most offending food should be eliminated from your diet and rest of the foods should be consumed in rotation so that your exposure to them reduces and increase your tolerance level.
For treating allergies, there are anti-histamine medicines available in the market for all kind of allergies. They are able to provide relief to the patient. Consumption of vitamin C can help as they contain anti-allergy vitamins. If the symptoms are life threatening, then you must rush to hospital. If allergic people avoid the foods that create allergic reaction and strike at the root cause of their allergy problems such as digestion and nutrition, then they can gradually overcome this problem.
