How to Reduce Stress
Anxiety causes stress, which hampers productivity. A feeling of anxiety can lead to emotions of inferiority complex as well. Further, long term stress can culminate in various health problems like a weak heart, high blood pressure, etc. Hence, it becomes necessary to reduce stress to whatever level possible. Whenever there is a feeling of rising stress, an individual must try to combat the increasing anxiety as soon as possible.
Very often, a person starts feeling anxious all of a sudden and cannot operate properly. They become nervous and start palpitating. On these occasions, the person should opt for some activities that will reduce the growing anxiety.
Go for a Walk
The easiest way to relax is to go for a walk. Getting some fresh air always helps as it allows oxygen to reach the brain and aids to clear the head. A walk helps people, heated up in anger or frustration, to ‘cool’ down.
Tea/Coffee Break
Sometimes, a cup of tea or coffee helps people calm down. The warmth of the beverage gives the body a good feeling and helps reduce stress at that point in time.
Read a Book
It is often said that reading a book helps a person relax (as long as the book is not heavy in its content). Given the place and circumstances, a person experiencing growing anxiety can take some time out and read a book/magazine to help him/her relax.
Meditate
Though this sounds complicated, it is the easiest to do, and can be done practically anywhere. Though the ideal meditative posture is to sit cross legged on the floor, meditation can be done sitting on a chair or even in the car (if you are a passenger). In simple words, meditation is nothing but closing your eyes and taking deep breaths. This inhaling and exhaling at a regular pace helps clear the head of all muddle and relaxes the body.
