How To Organize A Picnic
A picnic is an outing that is loved by adults and children alike. For adults, it is a time to relax and unwind amidst nature; and, for children, it is a time for fun and frolic. Picnics are essentially held outdoors- in a garden, at the beach or by the lake. In order to organize a picnic, there are a few essential items to organize.
Selection of Picnic Site
Depending upon the weather and the composition of the group, an appropriate venue must be chosen. If it is a family picnic comprising of all age-groups, then the venue must have ample play area for kids and seating arrangements for the elder members of the family. Further, if there is a large group attending the picnic, then the venue should not be too far away as then transportation becomes an issue.
Day and Time
Family picnics are usually held on weekends and public holidays as it becomes possible for all family members to attend. However, picnics meant primarily for children can be held on any weekday (after school hours) as the venues are likely to be less congested during the week.
As picnics are held outdoors, they are avoidable in the summer months, unless held late evening when it is cooler. Autumn and winter are ideal seasons for picnics as being outdoors at this time is therapeutic.
Picnic Hamper
A picnic is useless without scrumptious food. A picnic hamper must consist of food items that are easy to carry and are not messy to eat. Finger food is ideal as there is no need for plates and cutlery. However, for kids and elderly folk, it is best to carry disposable cutlery and crockery. Hot and cold beverages can be carried along with appropriate tumblers.
Entertainment
Entertainment in the form of music, family board games and sporting kits (cricket, soccer, badminton) can be taken along. Those who just wish to lie back and relax can carry along books and magazines.
