How To Make Your Home Comfortable
A beautiful home need not be comfortable. But a comfortable home can be beautiful.
A home should be inviting not only for its occupants but for everyone who comes visiting. A home should have an atmosphere of total relaxation and peace.
It is not difficult to turn your home into a comfort zone where one can chill and enjoy the finer things of life.
Begin by de-cluttering. Get rid of everything that has been put away in store rooms and garages. Give away clothes that you no longer wear. You will not only find your home more spacious but also have more space in your wardrobes.
Have comfortable sofas and seats. Throw in some soft and brightly colored cushions on the sofa. These will make your sofa look and feel comfy and inviting.
Spread carpets and rugs on the floor to enhance the comfort look. Uncovered floors of marble and granite are hard and cold. With carpet in the living room and rugs next to beds and chairs you can cozy up the room. Invest in queen size beds if you are single. King sized beds give a feeling of loneliness to the single occupant. Spread sheets of brightly colored cotton or pastel silk on your mattresses.
Avoid buying sheets with thread work on them. Throw in loads of pillows and small cushions on the head of the bed. Keep neatly folded blankets or duvets on the other end. Make your bed comfortable and inviting so that you look forwarding to resting on it. Don’t keep clothes, books or other things lying cluttered on the beds.
Prepare a comfort zone in your home. This can be a corner in the verandah where you can curl up with a book on a rocking chair or it can be an entire room. Convert the study room in to a small room where every member of the house can escape to for a couple of hours.
Keep a single bed and a rocking chair in the room. You can neatly stack your books here in a corner and have your own library in the house. Don’t put strong and harsh lights in the room. Instead light the room with floor or ceiling lamps. Let this be your secret hideout.
