How to make spicy butter chicken?

butter-chickenIndian dishes are world famous. Indians not only cook vegetarian food well but their non-vegetarian dishes are also renowned. One of such dish is Butter Chicken. You can make yummy Indian style Butter Chicken yourself.

Recipe:

Recipe to make butter chicken is not at all difficult, if you have a bit of knowledge about Indian spices. You can buy the Indian spices from any Indian store nearby. Garam masala is one of the main ingredients used in most of the Indian dishes which is made of cloves, green cardamom, cinnamon, mace and nutmeg. Hence, it can be easily made at home.

Ingredients:

Boneless chicken in bite-size pieces-450gm

Butter-2 tablespoons

Lemon juice-2 tablespoons

Yoghurt (plain) – ¼ cup

Cream- ¼ cup

Edible oil- 2 tablespoons

Chopped onions- 1

Tomato Puree- 1cup

Cayenne Pepper- 1 ¼ tablespoon

Salt- as per your taste

Chili powder- 1 tablespoon

Grounded Cumin seeds- 1 tablespoon

Bay leaf- 1

Black Pepper- just a pinch

Garlic and Ginger paste- 1 tablespoon

Garam masala- 2 tablespoons

Water

Procedure:

Butter chicken recipe involves three steps- making sauce, frying chicken and assembling the butter chicken.

Preparation of Sauce:

Take a large saucepan and heat edible oil.

Fry chopped onions till they become translucent and soft.

To these fried onions add butter, lemon juice, chili powder, garam masala, cumin, garlic and ginger paste and bay leaf. Cook them together with onions for a minute. Keep stirring.

Now pour tomato puree in saucepan and cook for 2 minutes. Keep stirring while you cook.

Now add yoghurt and cream to the mixture and stir well.

Let the mixture cook on low heat for 10 minutes without stirring.

Add salt, cayenne and black pepper to the mixture and stir well.

Now remove the saucepan from heat.

Next you need to cook chicken.

Frying Chicken

Take a frying pan now and heat a tablespoon of oil.

Cook chicken in till the pieces get brown.

Assembling the sauce and slightly fried chicken to butter chicken:

Add sauce to chicken and cook for about 5 minutes.

Now pour water into the pan.

Cook for about 15 minutes. Let water boil so that the curry thickens.

Butter chicken is ready.

You can serve butter chicken in a glass bowl decorated with coriander leaves on it.
