Baby FoodMaking baby food at home is not only beneficial, it is rewarding also. It gives enormous pleasure to cook for your little baby. These recipes are simple and very easy to cook. You know what you are serving to your baby – no fear of fillers and added preservatives. All the ingredients you use are fresh and healthy. You can know your baby’s taste and preferences through preparing ‘tailor make’ of these foods. You can save a considerable amount of money because this homemade baby food will cost cheaper. And above all making food on your own for your baby is extremely satisfying.

Preparation of Baby Food

1.    Whichever fruits and vegetable you choose, wash them thoroughly to remove dirt and pesticides.

2.    If your baby has just began eating solid food, steam or boil fruits or vegetables to make the food mushy. As the baby grows up little more and swallows food easily, just cook the food slightly to make a thicker consistency.

3.    Puree the food using blender or food processor to make right consistency, appropriate for child’s stage of eating.

4.    Strain the puree if required.

5.    Turn the pureed food into ice cube tray; place them in the freezer covering them with plastic wrap. When frozen these food cubes can be transferred and stored into some other container or Zip lock bags. You can label them with type and date. While feeding the baby remove as many cubes as you require and thaw them in the microwave.

6.    If you have time you can prepare fresh food. Canned foods can be used for those fruit and vegetables that are out of season.

7.    First start with only one fruit or vegetable, but as your baby grows older, introduce more fruit and vegetable. You can also blend two three fruit or vegetable together knowing which fruit and vegetable is tolerated well by the baby. Some fruits do no required to be steamed or boiled like kiwi and banana.

8.    You can add some sugar or salt to enhance the taste.

9.    To start with, apple, banana, plums, pears, peaches, apricot, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots are good choices.

Making baby food on your own ensures that as your baby grows up, he / she will make the right choice of food and will grow into a healthy person in future.
