Our hands play such an integral role in our daily lives and because of our daily busy routines we even did not notice them and risk their health and strength. We must give few moments a day or at least few times in a week to monitor the condition of our nails, white marks texture.
Following are some general tips to keep our nails strong and healthy:
Tip 1: Add a hardboiled egg and a glass of milk to your daily diet because both are rich in zinc which is great for your nails, especially for those whose nails are spotted with white, sign of zinc deficiency. Other important compounds that you need to check that you are getting enough in your diet are iron, calcium and silica. One thing to be kept in mind is that overdose of these vitamins and minerals can because you more harm than good.
Tip 2: Every evening rub a small amount of petroleum jelly to the skin surrounding your nails and into your nails, this will keep your nails hydrated. If you cannot do this on regular basis perform this whenever your nails feel dry. You can also use castor oil as a substitute; it contains vitamin E which is very good for your cuticle. Olive oil is another very good substitute to moisturize your nails.
Tip 3: Have at least two different pair of shoes and keep on switching between them and make sure that you are never putting your feet into damp, sweaty shoes because it can lead to fungal infections.
Tip 4: For making your nails stronger and healthier and to protect the nail bed from infections and injury cultivate your cuticles. Use a hydrating cream or oil daily and avoid cutting your cuticles.
Tip 5: Wearing different kinds of gloves for different purposes is very important to protect your nails from any damage. For example while working in a garden and dealing with chemicals, liquid fertilizers and damp soil you must wear rubber gloves that are water resistant, it will protect your nails and keep them healthier.
Tip 6: Rubbing moisturizer that contains alpha-hydroxyl acids or lanolin into tips of the nails will prevent cracks in your nails. Massaging vitamin E oil into your cuticles also act as a moisturizing agent.
