How to Decorate your Home Office Yourself
If you are working out of your home you will need to have an independent space to work out of so that you can draw a line between your work and your home. This is now a trend amongst those who are starting new businesses and new moms or work from home mothers. Whatever the case may be you need to have a space of your own that you can work from. This space doesn’t need to be business like; as a matter of fact you can have a small bedroom turned into an office space. When decorating this space you don’t need to spend a lot of money either. Here are a few tips to help you get started on the decorating.
The first thing you need to do is determine a space to work from. If you are a work from home mom then a room that is close to the nursery or the play area is ideal. In any other case you may want to consider the attic, garage or the basement. They are ideal as they are far away from the distractions of the house.
After you have decided on the space you need to make space for the basic necessities for the office. This would include computers or laptops, telephone connections, filing cabinets and a dedicated space for stationery. Look out at rummage sales for furniture or buy a kit of do it yourself furniture. You can make the furniture to fit in the space as per your requirement. This is a great way to save on office furniture. If you need a desk to work from then look out for one on sale or have it custom made for you. Remember, it is ok to spend on this as you will be working from this desk daily.
When you are choosing your chair you need to put comfort before a price tag. This too doesn’t need to be an expensive purchase. You can get a great chair at a second hand store or at a sale. Alternatively you can also look out for an office chair on websites that specialize in office furniture.
Cabinets and files for the office are important so you can go ahead and invest in a few of them. You will also need a lot of stationery so look out for stores that sell them in bulk; this is a great way to save on your purchase. Plus it saves you the effort of making multiple trips to buy the stationery.
