How to control snacking
Snacking is eating the food that is not part of the main meals of the day. It is used to assuage a person’s hunger in between the meals. Some of the factors that cause snacking are stress, boredom.
Following are the tips that can help you in controlling snacking:
Proper sleep: It is very important to take adequate sleep if you really want to avoid snacking. This is because the body needs sleep of at least nine hours to rejuvenate the health system which helps in the prevention of urge of eating between meals.
Divert your mind: Whenever you want to have snacks, indulge your mind in some activities that require mental concentration. This will divert your mind and will thus avoid snacking. Avoid sitting idle and watching television as both results in hunger.
Chewing Gums: To control the urge of snacking, you should always carry sugar free chewing gums with you. You should make sure that the chewing gums you are eating are sugar free by reading the labels. It is necessary because the sugar contents and levels of preservatives are different in different brands.
Proper Schedule: Proper lifestyle and good dietary habits are very important for reducing the desire of snacking in a person. It is recommended to make a diet schedule if you have too many desires for snacking. You can also consult a dietician for preparing a diet schedule.
