A large number of people throughout the world have their own diet advice to offer. However, a lot of of these advices are incorrect. Due to this, numerous diet myths have emerged. Some of the most common diet myths that we come across in our day to day life includes:
Calorie Deficit
Most people believe that in order to lose weight, it is important to develop a diet deficient in calories. It is believed that if you cut your calories drastically by exercising and proper diet, you would lose weight. However, the truth is that cutting calories too drastically can lower the metabolism of your body in order to conserve the energy. Due to this, the speed at which the body would lose weight also slows down.
Low Carb Diets
Many people believe that cutting out carbs from the diet would help in reducing weight. But the fact is that you lose weight on low carb diet because if you eliminate carbs completely, there are many things which you can’t eat at all.
Junk Food
Many people think that if you want to lose weight, you must avoid junk food completely. However, the fact is that eating any kind of food in proper amount is not a problem at all. Eating 1 or 2 slices of pizza won’t hurt you. But if you start taking too much, it becomes a problem. For example, eating a whole pizza in one go will be harmful for the body. If you eat a healthy diet daily, having a soda or a slice of chocolate would not hurt you.
Detox Diets
Many people think that detox meals are best for losing weight as well as removing toxins from the body. However, these diets actually do not remove any toxins but actually result in accumulation of toxins in the body if you stop eating everything else but their unique ‘juice’. Starving yourself must be avoided at all cost.
These common myths related to diets and weight loss are not helpful but in fact, prevent us from reaching our goals. Therefore, they must be avoided under all circumstances.
