It is a very good option to try growing some vegetables at your home. Cultivation of vegetables is not difficult, once you know how to go on about it. The best way is to grow them with organic matter i.e. manure instead of using fertilizers.

Preparing the soil is the very first step of home vegetable gardening. Fertility of soil can be increased by adding manure to the soil. Plowing of land is required for adding manure to the soil. Infertile soil can be made fertile by using organic matter or other soil improving materials.
Obtain Aged animal manure that is an organic material with an added bonus of soil nutrients. It must be aged for 6 months to a year before applying to garden. It will burn your plants if the manure is fresh. It may contain bacteria that can cause illness from contact and it stinks also.
Always add fresh manure to a compost heap and let it age there. There are different types of manures available. Always try to lay manure during the winter months so that soil will then have plenty of time to absorb the nutrients.
Soil must be worked in again two weeks before planting. Any garden tool like garden tiller can be used to till the soil. In order to mix manure effectively with soil, make it loose with pitchfork. Break down both the soil and the manure so that they are easy to mix.
Composted chicken manure is well known and one of the best soil amendments. Most popular varieties are of Cow, sheep and chicken manure. Always avoid using cat, dog, pig and human manures. Chicken manure is organic and can be used in place of chemical fertilizer. It has highest quantity of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium of any livestock manure. It contains nutrients which are very essential to vegetable health. It helps assure large produce yield.
