How Inadequate Sleep Affects Us
Sleep is one of the most vital things to keep us healthy and fresh. Though, most of the modern people have a tendency to neglect it due to work pressure or for some other reasons.
In your 20’s inadequate sleep may not affect you because we have some natural strength at our younger age. But as we grow old, the natural strength and power began to decrease. At this time we need proper sleep to rejuvenate us and to keep us fit. If we do not take adequate sleep daily the reflection automatically fall on our appearance.
We get dull and lifeless skin, dark circles around our eyes, wrinkles, etc. our thinking power, decision making power are also affected by inadequate sleep. So if you have sleep disorder, it should be treated as early as possible other wise it may lead you to various disorders in the long run.
Sleep helps us to digest our food properly. If you stuff you stomach with lots of food but do not take sleep, you may suffer from ill digestion and the problem of gas and acidity. Sleep failure can lead you to chronic ill digestion. Your digestive system will be hampered due to inadequate sleep.
Inadequate sleep affects your skin most. If you spend some sleepless nights people will understand it easily seeing your appearance. You will have dark circles under your eyes. You will have dull and lifeless complexion. You will loose shine in your eyes. There will be rash and pimples over your face. We know that when we sleep our body works most.
Our skin repairs most during our sleep. That is why we look refreshed after getting a proper sleep. But when we lack sleep, our skin fails to repair it. It ages very fast. Immature aging and wrinkles are other important side effects of sleep disorder.
Our body is like a machine and it needs rest. In a factory if we keep a machine on for 24 hours and 365 days, it will not be long lasting. To increase its work power we should give it rest. Similarly to remain healthy for a long time our body also needs rest and sleep at proper time. An aged person needs 6-8 hours of interrupted sleep to remain healthy. A child needs much more sleep than an aged person because adequate sleep helps in their physical and mental growth.
Adequate sleep also helps our brain to work properly. After getting a proper sleep our brain regain its activeness and we can take the right decision at right time. Inadequate sleep hampers our decision making power, snatches our working capability and leads us to depression, frustration, inattentiveness and many other psychological disorders.
Chronic sleep disorder suppresses the natural immune system which can lead you to various problems. Inadequate sleep may make you hungry and you will search for calorie-dense foods. Gradually it will lead you to food addiction and the result is obesity. Modern research shows that lack of sleep is one of the main causes of obesity epidemic. Lack of sleep may also increase the insulin level in the body and increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
