    Home Remedies for Sunburn

    Sunburn is a condition which occurs due to overexposure to sunlight. The ultraviolet radiation of sunlight is known to be a harmful ingredient of the sunlight. It might cause general fatigue, red or reddish skin that is hot to the touch, and mild dizziness which are the general symptoms of sunburn. Apart from these there are various other harmful side effects of overexposure to sunlight. Sunburn mainly harms the skin and redness, dehydration and inflammation may occur due to it. Although various ointments and lotions are available to avoid sunburn, the natural remedies are always better to use since they hardly have any side effects and are very useful in treating the condition.

    Using barley, milk, honey, olive oil and egg

    A fine paste made with barley powder in milk can be used to treat sunburn. Just add a little olive oil, honey and the white of an egg to it. Blend the mixture into a fine paste and apply over the sunburns on the face. It will provide immediate relief from the condition.

    Using rose water

    Rose water is a very effective remedy for treating sunburn. Just add a few drops of rose water to cold water and enjoy the refreshing bath with this. Rosewater bath is very helpful in treating sunburns and it provides very quick relief.

    Using tomato juice and buttermilk

    The mixture of tomato juice and buttermilk is also a very good medicine for sunburns. Add one teaspoonful of tomato juice and about six teaspoonfuls of buttermilk and apply this lotion over the sunburn affected areas of the skin. It will diminish the sunburn effects and heal the condition instantly.

    Using Aloe vera

    Aloe vera is a very useful herb, not only for sunburn but also for many other ailments. The oil extracted from aloe vera leaves can be utilized in treating sunburn. Message the oil on the body, especially on the sunburn affected areas before going out in the sun for avoiding irritation and inflammation. The oil can also be applied after 10-15 minutes of exposure to sun.

    Using cabbage and lettuce leaves

    The other effective remedy for sunburn is by using the cabbage and lettuce leaves. Take the leaves of cabbage and lettuce and refrigerate them. If there is no refrigerator to make them cool, just soak them in cold water. Apply these cold leaves over the sunburn affected area. It will soothe the skin and provide immediate relief from irritation and the burning sensation.

    Using vinegar

    Vinegar can also be used to treat sunburns. Add a few drops of vinegar with plain, cold water and with the help of a cotton ball apply the water on the face and other parts of the body where sunburn has occurred. This is a very effective remedy for sunburns.

    Using sandalwood oil

    Put a few drops of sandalwood oil in a bucket of water and have a bath with this water. Sandalwood is soothing for the skin and it will provide immediate relief from the burning sensation of the sunburn affected areas of the skin.

    Using milk and water

    One of the easiest home remedies for sunburn can be prepared with milk and water. Mix equal parts of milk and water and apply this solution with the help of a cotton ball on the sunburned areas to get quick relief.

    Using cucumber juice

    Cucumber juice is a very useful way to get rid of sunburn. Extract the juice of one cucumber and add this juice with a little milk. With the help of a cotton ball dab this solution over the sunburn affected areas. The soothing affect of cucumber will provide very fast relief from the burning sensation and puffiness caused due to sunburn.

    Using oatmeal

    Oatmeal is also a very useful remedy for sunburns. Add three to four teaspoonfuls of oatmeal in plain water and apply this over the sunburn affected areas or take a bath with the solution. Oatmeal heals the irritation and itching caused due to sunburn immediately.
