Home Remedies for Rheumatism

Rheumatism refers to medical problems affecting the heart, bones, joints, kidney, skin and lung. However, in common terms it is referred to a disease that accompanies swelling of the supporting structures of the body such as muscles, ligaments, joints and tendons. There are two types of the common disease; known as articular and muscular rheumatism. The major reasons of rheumatism include poisoning of the blood with acid wastes, damp weather conditions, acidosis and physically stressful work conditions. Rheumatism is a chronic disease that may affect people of any age or sex. However, many simple home remedies are available for treatment of the disease.

Using Raw potato juice

Raw potato juice is one of the best home remedies for any kind of rheumatism. The juice extracted from mashed potatoes should be administered in the dosage of one to two teaspoonfuls before the meals. The skins of the potatoes are also useful in treating the disease. Nearly thirty grams of the skins may be peeled off and boiled in one liter water until the quantity of water reduces to half. This solution should be strained and a glassful of the remaining solution should be taken in glassfuls three times daily.

Using apple cider vinegar and honey

Apple cider vinegar and honey can also be utilized for treating rheumatism. Mix about two teaspoonfuls each of vinegar and honey in a glass of warm water twice every day for getting quick relief from rheumatism.

Using celery

Celery is also a very useful remedy for rheumatism. The extract fluid obtained from the celery seeds is also useful in treating the disease to a large extent. Alternately, the raw vegetable juice should be extracted for oral intake twice every day.

Using carrot and lemon juices

Carrot and lemon juices’ mixture is also a very good remedy for rheumatism. Take equal parts of carrot juice and lemon juice and take a tablespoonful every day for obtaining effective results in rheumatism.

Using bitter gourd


Bitter gourd is also a very useful remedy for rheumatism. Extract the juice from bitter gourd and take a cup of the juice to mix with one teaspoonful of honey once every day for getting good results. This treatment should be continued for about three months to get relief from the disease.

Using lime juice

One of the easiest methods of treating rheumatism in home is to use lime juice. Two tablespoonful of lime juice mixed with four tablespoonful of water should be made and stored in a bottle. Half of this solution should be taken at one time, twice daily for getting effective results in rheumatism.

Using walnuts

Walnuts are also very useful remedy for treating rheumatism. Care should be taken to thoroughly masticate them for getting the best results. Half a dozen of the walnuts can be taken daily for treating this disease.

Using Rhubarb

Rhubarb is also a very useful remedy for treating rheumatism. Take equal quantities of green stalks of rhubarb and sugar and pound the mixture. Three to four teaspoonful of this is advised for the patients of rheumatism.

Mixing Epsom salts and lemon juice

The mixture of Epsom salts and lemon juice is also very effective in curbing the disease of rheumatism. Take three tablespoonfuls of Epsom salt and the juice of three lemons in a pint of water to make the medicine. Take one teaspoonful each time in the morning and night for getting effective results.
Using blackstrap molasses and cranberry juice

The other mixture that’s found very useful in treating rheumatism is the mixture of blackstrap molasses and cranberry juice. Take about four teaspoonful of molasses and one quart of cranberry juice to prepare the medicine.  A glass of this solution should be taken every day for getting relief from the disease.
