Peptic ulcer is also known as ulcus pepticum or Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD). It refers to an ulcer in an area of gastrointestinal tract. An ulcer is a mucosal erosions equal to or greater than 0.5 cm in length. Most of the peptic ulcers are associated with Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that lives in the acidic environment of the stomach.
Ulcers may also be the result of some drugs such as aspirin. The most common symptoms of peptic ulcer include abdominal pain, bloating and fullness, waterbrash, nausea and vomiting etc. Usually, a history of heartburn and gastro-esophageal reflux disease increases the chances of getting ulcers. Using bananas
Bananas are the most easily available remedy for peptic ulcers. Banana is helpful in neutralizing the over acidity of the gastric juices and provides relief from the irritation. Banana coats the inner lining of the stomach and thereby reduces the irritation. If the symptoms are severe, the patient should be administered a diet of only two bananas with a glass of milk, thrice every day.
Using lime
Lime is also an effective medication in getting rid of ulcers. It is believed that the citric acid present in lime along with the mineral salts present in the gastric juice helps in digestion. Thereby it provides relief from many symptoms of peptic ulcer.
Using goat’s milk

Using almonds

An infusion made by soaking 15 grams of leaves in 250 ml of water overnight should be administered to the peptic ulcer patient. Using fenugreek seeds
Fenugreek seeds are also quite effective in treating peptic ulcers. A tea made from the fenugreek seeds is considered very beneficial for treating the disease. The fenugreek seeds provide a mucilaginous coating over the stomach which helps in providing relief from the symptoms of peptic ulcers.
Using cabbage
Cabbage is also very helpful in providing relief from peptic ulcers. 250 gm of cabbage should be boiled in 500 ml of water for this purpose. The solution should be removed from heating further when the water reduces to half while boiling. This solution when cooled should be taken with carrot juice in dosage of 125 ml each of the juices. This is a very effective remedy for peptic ulcer disease.
Using drumstick
A variety of drumstick found in the southern part of India, known as kalyana murangal is also very useful in treating peptic ulcer disease. To prepare the medicine, ten grams of the leaves should be grounded into paste and mixed with half a cup of yogurt. This should be taken once daily for a few days to get positive results in peptic ulcer disease.
Using various yoga asanas
Various asanas of yaga are also very useful in getting rid of peptic ulcer. For example, vajrasana, uttanapadasana and pavanmuktasana are very effective in curbing the disease. It is believed that the asanas control the release of the gastric juices and keeps it in proper proportions so that it might not affect; and thereby it provides relief from peptic ulcer disease.
