    Home Remedies For Obesity

    Obesity refers to storage of excessive fat in the body. It is calculated by the body mass index (BMI) which takes care of height, weight and age of an individual. People who have more than 20% of fat than the normal BMI are said to be obese.

    Obesity is a disease although many people suffering from it hardly feels that. An obese person runs the risk of getting various other diseases such as diabetes, heart problems and cancer.

    Although fat is necessary, having excessive fat can be dangerous. In general, the fat stored in the body is reserve of energy but having excessive fat is nothing but a disease. There are various weight loss techniques available in the market, but these are considered to have considerable side effects that may hamper the general health. However, with simple and effective home remedies, one can easily get rid of obesity. Some of the most useful home remedies are discussed in this article.

    Using honey

    Honey is considered to be one of the most useful home remedies for obesity. The patients suffering from obesity should take about 10 ml of honey everyday at the beginning and increase the dosage with time. Honey provides excellent results in losing weight by burning the fats.

    Alternately, one can also use honey and lime juice mixture to get rid of obesity. For making the remedy, mix one teaspoon of honey with the juice of half a lime in a glass of lukewarm water and drink this decoction every day. It will provide immense help in burning the excessive fat stored in the body.

    Using Indian plum

    Indian plum is also an excellent medicine for getting rid of obesity. A few leaves of the herb should be soaked in water overnight and the juice should be drunk in the morning in an empty stomach. This medication is effective in removing the extra fat from the body. This treatment should be continued for at least one month to obtain favorable results.

    Using cabbage

    Cabbage is considered to be one of the most fruitful home remedies for losing excessive weight. For getting good results, cabbage salad should be taken in spite of heavy meals. Researchers have found that cabbage contains tartaric acid which inhibits the conversion of sugar and carbohydrates into fats. This leads to a healthy, less fatty body.

    Using tomatoes

    Tomatoes can also be of great help in reducing the extra fat of the body. Two tomatoes should be consumed by the obese individuals early in the morning, in an empty stomach to obtain excellent results in losing weight. Tomato is also considered beneficial for the heart in keeping its normal functioning. So, by opting for tomatoes individuals may obtain dual benefit.

    Using curry leaves

    If you are looking for relief from excessive fat help can be as near as using some curry leaves for a few months. Chewing 4-5 curry leaves in the morning in an empty stomach is considered to be one of the most useful remedies for obesity. This should be continued for at least 3 months to get positive results.

    Using finger millet

    Finger millet is also an excellent herb in curbing obesity. Obese people should eat preparations made of finger millet to burn the excessive fat in the body. Finger millet takes enough time to get digested and this helps in inhibition of storage of carbohydrates in the body. Furthermore, finger millet is a rich source of calcium; phosphorus, iron; Vitamin B1 and B2 which help keep the general health intact of the obesity affected individuals.

    Using ginger and lemon

    Ginger and lemon could also be suitable used to treat the condition of obesity. For taking it as a medicine, boil some pieces of sliced ginger in a pot and add some pieces of lemon while it is still being boiled. Drink this solution while it is still hot for getting better results. This medication helps in controlling the habit of overeating; thereby diminishing the urge for more foods which ultimately results in getting rid of obesity.

    Using various yogic exercises

    Yoga can be quite helpful for the obese persons for getting rid of obesity. Some asanas such as sarvangasana, bhujangasana and halasana are quite helpful in burning excessive fats of the body which ultimately results in less fatty bodies.

    Apart from this controlling eating fatty and oily items and doing regular exercise is also recommended for getting relief from obesity. This will not only help in staying fit but will also help in losing a large amount of unused fat of the body.
