Home Remedies For Kidney Stones
Kidney stones are depositions of calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, uric acid and cystine. The stones may grow as big as a bird’s egg’s size and these are formed due to insufficient removal of the substances through urine.
The matters of the stones usually get dissolved in the urine and pass out from the body. But due to some reason if they are not thrown out of the body they form the stones. The sizes of the stones may vary from patient to patient but in any case it is a painful situation and needs immediate medical intervention. However, many useful home remedies are available for treating the condition.
Using apple
Apples are a very good remedy for kidney stones. The juice extracted from fresh apples can be used as a medicine for kidney stones. The juice helps to dissolve the stones and it is washed out from the body. However, the ripe fresh fruit can also be used for this purpose. To have good results 2-3 apples should be consumed every day.
Using kidney beans
Kidney beans are a very good remedy for treating kidney stones. The pods of the bean should be sliced and in about four liter of water sixty grams of beans should be added. This mixture should be allowed to boil for six hours and then the solution should be strained through fine muslin. The resultant solution should be left idle for eight hours and then it should again be strained through muslin. The decoction obtained this way is a very good medicine for kidney stones. It should be taken in doses of one glass every two hours for one day and then this could be continued several times weekly.
Using basil leaves
Basil leaves can also be used to treat kidney stones. To use it as a medicine, one teaspoonful each of basil leaves extract and honey should be mixed. This medicine can be taken once daily for a period of six months. By this treatment stones can be removed from the urinary tract.
Using pomegranate
Pomegranate is also a very good medicine for kidney stones. The seeds should be ground into paste and one teaspoonful of this juice should be added with two tablespoonful of horse gram soup. This medication is useful in dissolving the gravels of the kidneys. The seeds of both sour and sweet pomegranate can be used for preparing the medicine.
Using grapes
Grapes can also be taken as medicine for treating kidney stones. Grapes contain potassium salts which help in dissolving the stones. Moreover the low albumin and sodium chloride content is also helpful in diminishing the stones. About 15-20 medium sized grapes should be included in the diet for treating the stones.
Using celery
Celery can also be used as a home remedy for kidney stones. Celery prevents the formation of stone in kidneys or the gall bladders. The regular intake of celery is helpful in avoiding kidney stones. Moreover, it also helps in dissolving the stones already present in the kidneys or gall bladders.
Using watermelon
Watermelon can also be used as one of the best home remedies for kidney stones. Watermelon has rich potassium salts content as well as water. This helps in dissolving the kidney stones. Moreover, regular use of watermelon also helps in preventing the formation of stones in the kidneys.
Apart from using these remedies, care should also be taken to protect the kidneys. Some food such as alcoholic beverages; condiments and pickles and those with a strong aroma such as asparagus, onion, beans, cabbage, and cauliflower should be avoided. Moreover meat and gravies; certain vegetables like cucumber, radish, tomato, spinach, rhubarb and carbonated waters should also be kept away.
Moreover, care should be taken to restrict the use of calcium and phosphates in foods. To avoid calcium nd phosphates, whole wheat flour, cauliflower, turnips, Chickpea, peas, soya bean, beet, spinach, carrots, almonds, and coconuts should be avoided.
