Home Remedies For Headache
Headache is a fairly common problem that affects everyone sometime in the life. Headache is classified into three categories according to their generation; namely tension, migraine and cluster headaches. As is obvious tension headache arises due to excessive tension and migraine headache arises due to a hereditary condition known as migraine.
Cluster headaches are repetitive in nature and occur mainly due to smoking and alcohol abuse. The major reasons for headache include allergy, tension, eye strain, high blood pressure or low blood sugar, nutritional deficiency and insomnia etc. However, there are many home remedies available for headaches.
Using clove, cinnamon and almond
The mixture of clove, cinnamon and almond can be used to treat headaches. Take about a teaspoonful of each of clove, cinnamon and almond and grind them together. Now add a little water to make a paste. Apply this paste on the forehead for getting relief from headache.
Using apple
Apple can be utilized to treat chronic headaches. Eat an apple every day in the morning in an empty stomach. Add a little salt if you wish. Continue this for a week. It will help in getting rid of headache very quickly.
Using ginger
Ginger is one of the most widely used remedies in ayurveda and it is also a very good remedy for headache. Boil fresh ginger or ginger powder in water and inhale the heat coming out of it. It will help in getting relief from headache caused by sinusitis.
Alternately, mix 1 tablespoonful of milk and half a teaspoonful of ginger powder and put two drops each in the nostrils. It will provide relief from even severe headache.
Using hot water bath
Hot water can also be utilized to treat chronic headache. Take warm water of about 45 degree Celsius temperature and dip the feet in it for 15-20 minutes before going to sleep. Continue this for two weeks to get relief from recurring headache.
Using Eucalyptus oil
Eucalyptus oil can also be used as remedy for sinusitis headache. Take about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil in boiling water and inhale the heat. While doing so, cover your head with a towel. This will provide quick relief from headache.
Using cinnamon
Cinnamon can also be used as a remedy for headache. Add half a teaspoonful of cinnamon to a little water to make a paste and apply this on the forehead for getting relief from headache.
Using spinach and carrot juices
The mixture of spinach and carrot juices can also be used to treat headache. Take 200 ml of spinach juice and 300 ml of carrot juice to prepare the decoction. Drink it once daily for getting relief from headache. Alternately prepare the medicine by adding 100 ml each of beet and cucumber juices with 300 ml of carrot juice.
Using ghee (clarified butter)
Clarified butter can also be used to treat severe headache. Take two to three drops of clarified butter and rub 3-4 pieces of saffron in it for two minutes. Now, remove the saffron and put the two drops of clarified butter in each nostril.
Alternately, clarified butter can also be used in messaging the scalp to get rid of headache.
Using lemon
Lemon can also be used as a remedy for headache. Pound the lemon crust into paste in mortar and apply it as a plaster on the forehead. It will help in reducing headache very quickly.
Messaging various oils on the scalp
Messaging oil on the scalp has been used as a remedy for headache from ancient times. Take Sesame, almond or mustard oil for the purpose and message them slowly on the scalp. It will help in reducing headache to a large extent.
Apart from taking the above mentioned medicines, to avoid headache some habitual activities should also be changed. Proper nutrition and exercise should be followed to avoid headache. Smoking and taking excessive alcohol should also be stopped. Moreover, proper rest should be taken regularly. Following these simple steps and taking simple home remedies may work wonders in getting rid of headache.
