Home Remedies For Dry Skin
Dry skin is a very common problem which occurs to almost everyone, especially during the winters. In this condition, the skin lacks the natural glow and the shiny character as the oil glands produce less amount of oil than the required amount.
Thighs, sides of abdomen, lower arms, chest, cheeks and the area around the eyes are the areas that are most affected in this condition. Since the skin lacks suppleness, it is more vulnerable to form wrinkles easily. The condition can be identified by scratching as during scratch it forms a white line on the skin.
Although various moisturizers are a remedy they only function for a limited time and hence are an annoyance rather than a remedy. However, there are many home remedies available to treat the condition, easily within the reach.
Using Honey and rose water
Honey is a very good moisturizer and it helps protect the suppleness of the skin. Add ½ tsp of rose water with 1 tsp of honey and apply it as a body cream, especially as a face wash. Keep it on the skin for 20 minutes and then wash with cold water. This will work wonderfully to keep dry skin problem away.
Using egg yolk
Egg yolk can also be a wonderful home remedy for dry skin. For better results, add one egg yolk with a few drops of rose water, one tsp each of olive oil and orange juice and a few drops of lime juice. Apply on the skin, especially face, 15 minutes before taking bath. This works as a body lotion during the winters as well.
Using papaya and banana
Papaya and banana, used as a puree, adding a pinch of avocado, works as a very good home remedy for dry skin. This preparation should be left on the skin for 20 minutes for getting better results.
Using Milk cream
Milk cream can also be used as a remedy for dry skin. Add a few drops of rose water and lime juice to milk cream for better use. This remedy will keep the skin toned, shiny and free from dryness.
Using avocado and lemon juice
Avocado is also a very good remedy for dry skin. For making it more effective, add a few drops of lime juice with mashed avocado and apply on the skin. Keep this on the skin for nearly 20 minutes to get more benefit and then dab off the excess with a cotton ball. It is a wonderful way to keep dry skin problem away.
Using clay powder and honey
Clay powder and honey mixture can also be used as a remedy for dry skin. Add 1 tsp each of green clay powder and raw honey and blend it well. Apply the blended mixture over the skin and keep for 20 minutes. However, take ample care not to apply this on the eye area as it may harm the eyes.
Using pea nuts and milk
Pea nuts mixed with milk and honey is a very good home remedy for dry skin. Make a paste by adding some peanuts with milk. Then add a little honey to this mixture. Apply this on the most affected areas and let it dry. Then, wash off with cold water to get a shiny and well moisturized skin. This is especially applicable for the face.
Using apple
Apple can also be used against dryness of skin. Peel off the skin and grate it finely and keep it in refrigerator for 20 -30 minutes. Apply this finely grated apple on the skin for 15 minutes. This will soothe the skin and add a shiny glow.
Using almond and olive oil
Almond and olive oils can also be used as a remedy for dry skin. These are considered to be excellent moisturizers and can be applied on the skin overnight and washed off in the morning.
Applying these simple and effective home remedies one can easily get rid of dry skin within a few days.
