Home Remedies For Cholesterol
There are two types of cholesterol found in human body. High density lipoproteins or HDLs are usually harmless and are useful for the body. It is the low density lipoproteins or LDLs that are harmful.
LDLs are responsible in clogging the arteries and thereby stop the blood flow to many important organs. LDLs are also responsible for most of the heart attacks. The HDLs remove LDLs from the arteries and hence are termed as good cholesterol.
Usually, cholesterols perform many important functions in the body but when the quantity of bad cholesterol exceeds the normal, it harms the body in many ways. However, there are many simple remedies available to decrease the density of bad cholesterols and repair the system.
Coriander seeds are an excellent remedy for high density of cholesterols. Apart from lowering blood cholesterol, it also helps in the functioning of the kidneys. Mix 2 tablespoons of coriander seeds to a glass of boiling water. Cool the solution and strain it. This medicine can be used twice daily.
Using Sunflower seeds
Sunflower seeds are extremely useful in lowering the density of blood cholesterol. It contains linoleic acid which dissolves the cholesterols, thereby decreasing their density. Individuals suffering from high density of cholesterol should use sunflower seeds in spite of solid fats such as butter and cheese in the diet.
The simplest remedy available for decreasing the density of blood cholesterol is to drink water as much as possible. The high cholesterol individuals should drink 10 – 12 glasses of water daily. Cinnamon and honey mixture is also used as a home remedy for lowering the blood cholesterol content. In about 5 cups of water add 5-6 sticks of cinnamon (of about 2.5 cm length) and boil it. Mix 1 tablespoon of honey and use it as a medicine while it’s still hot. It is one of the most effective remedies available for lowering cholesterol.
Using Indian Bedelium (guggul)
Guggul also shows some medicinal properties which makes it a useful home remedy for lowering cholesterol. It also decreases the triglycerides content and improves the HDL to LDL ratio by lowering the density of the LDL in the blood.
Using red wine
Alcohols are also found to act positively in lowering the blood cholesterol content. To use it as medicine drink half glass of red wine daily before bedtime. Alcohol reacts with the Low Density Lipoproteins and decrease the bad cholesterol density in the blood.
Garlic can also be used as a remedy for high cholesterol condition. It helps in dissolving the cholesterol which is later excreted.
Using exercise and cold hipbaths etc.
Daily exercise is one of the best ways to keep high cholesterol density away. Exercise helps in diminishing the high cholesterol content of the blood and reduces the risk of heart attacks. It also strengthens the immune system which ultimately benefits in overall health.
Cold hipbaths are also very useful way to reduce the cholesterol content of the body. Individuals suffering from high cholesterol condition should take cold hipbaths for 10 minutes twice every day.
Yoga can also be fruitful in lowering the cholesterol content of the body. Various asanas of yoga that are helpful such as padmasana, halabhansan and vajrasana can be practiced by the individuals suffering from high cholesterol.
