Bad breath is a fairly common problem where the mouth smells odorous. It is known as halitosis in medical terms. The most obvious reason for bad breath is infection in the gums. Sometimes germs take shelter in the holes of teeth and release foul odor due to which bad breath may occur.

There are various other reasons such as smoking, certain foods and poor oral hygiene which may cause bad breath.  It may create nuisance in communication because it could impart a poor impression to people with whom the affected individual communicates. However, following some simple steps or using simple medicines easily available at home, one may get rid of bad breath.

Using Parsley

Parsley can act as a natural remedy for bad breath. For using it as a medicine take a few sprigs of coarsely chopped parsley and add it to two cups of boiling water and add a few cloves to it. Stir the mixture while it gets cooled and strain the solution. This can be used as a mouthwash or gargle. The medicine should be used thrice daily for effective results.

Using Cardamom

Cardamom can act as one of the best natural home remedies for bad breath. Chewing cardamom three four times a day can be the easiest remedy for bad breath.

Using Avocado

Avocado can also be used as a natural home remedy. It cleans the intestinal decompositions and other putrefactions which are largely responsible for bad breath. Avocado can also clean the germs that hide in the teeth holes and thereby erase bad breath.

Using Guava

Guava is one of the most available fruits that can be used as a breath freshener. The unripe guava contains various acids such as malic, tannic and oxalic acids. It also contains phosphoric acid, manganese and calcium. These ingredients act as cleansers and hence the unripe guava is one of the best remedies for bad breath.

Alternately, individuals suffering from bad breath can also chew tender guava leaves for getting relief from the disorder. Guava is an excellent protector of gums and teeth. It also helps stop bleeding in the gums.

Using lemon

Lemon is also a natural remedy for bad breath. One can take the juice of half a lemon added to a glass of water and rinse the mouth before going to sleep every day. Lemon is a rich resource for citric acid which can kill the germs of the teeth and hence it acts as a remedy for bad breath.

Using Fenugreek

The tea made from the seeds of fenugreek can act as mouth freshener. It also helps curbing bad breath. For preparing the tea, in half a liter of cold water add one teaspoon of the seeds and simmer it over a low flame for 15 minutes. The solution can later be strained and used as tea. Fenugreek shows excellent healing capabilities in case of halitosis.

Using water

Large amounts of water drank throughout the day can also act as a remedy for halitosis. Water dissolves the putrefactions and decompositions in the intestine which is responsible for bad breath. Later the impurities come out from the body as urine and therefore no bad breath occurs.

Using raw juices

Fresh raw juices extracted from the green vegetables can also act as a remedy for bad breath. Any green vegetable can be taken for this purpose.

However, it should be remembered that the sure shot remedy for all kinds of bad breath is to keep the mouth and tongue clean. Usually, bad breath occurs when food particle is gathered in the teeth holes since these act as the breeding ground for various germs which release foul odors.

Hence, proper oral hygiene and cleanliness should be maintained for an effective result. If possible the teeth should be brushed every time after one takes the meals. Also the tongue should be cleaned along with the teeth while brushing to avoid halitosis.
